Welcome to Winton State School
As principal of Winton State School, my aim is to ensure that our school provides students with:
- A safe, supportive learning environment
- A range of enjoyable learning opportunities
- A love of learning and opportunities to be curious
- Quality teaching
I have been a principal in rural and remote schools since 2019 and I love the benefits and opportunities that small communities bring to our most precious resource for the future: our children. I encourage all students to be active citizens and am always proud, amazed and impressed by what our students can achieve when given the opportunities and agency to have a go.
I refer to myself as 'a learner at life' and am always asking questions about how we can improve on whatever it is that we are doing.
Winton State School is geographically remote and I believe that there are advantages and benefits for children in our community that may not be available to children growing up in large cities. Our students have access to a range of opportunities to apply learning in and for the community. We ensure these opportunities are possible through building connections with local community, working with council, local business and government agencies and through encouraging community engagement. We also access regional supports and service provides from around the state and nation. We use these connections to access learning opportunities, support, knowledge and resources through the most viable and effective means.
I value and encourage communication with parents, families and carers of our students and ensure that I am available and open for communication.
Every student at Winton State School has an opportunity to be a leader. Our school belongs to our students and they are included in the planning, decision making and operations of the school.
The staff at Winton State School are an incredibly valuable asset. They are dedicated, pro-active and positive. They aim to inspire and motivate our students through being role models and life-long learners. I support staff to enact continual improvement.
We strive for all at Winton State School, to be the best they can be and "Advance with Honour".
